The Need

As Saratoga Independent School celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2017, it has seen a tremendous growth in its student body. Saratoga Independent School  has doubled its enrollment in the past five years alone. With its increased population, along with the planned expansion to include Middle School, the school is quickly outgrowing its current academic space. In order for Saratoga Independent School  to continue to meet current and future enrollment demands, our new 20,000 square foot east wing, built in early 2016, must be completed.

Who We Are

Our mission at Saratoga Independent School is to empower each student to become a confident learner who is capable of critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. We strive to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in an increasingly complex world, while enriching each day of their childhood.

Middle School Expansion

Vision: By adding a Middle School that would encompass the 6th–8th grades, we can continue our excellent curriculum of differentiated education throughout the critical adolescent years. The same philosophies of developing the whole child, creating individualized learning experiences, and encouraging critical thinking and problem solving will be present as students move to the next stage of learning in the new Middle School.

The Plan: Working with local architects and contractors, Saratoga
Independent School is setting out to complete the remainder of the first floor and the entire second floor of the new academic wing by 2019. Priority will be given to completing the downstairs with four additional classrooms, which are necessary for our current enrollment projections for 2017.

As funds are raised, classrooms and educational spaces will be completed on the second floor. An elevator (an ADA requirement) will be installed, and administrative offices to meet the growth of the school and staff will be constructed. In addition to building and finishing costs, all classrooms and education spaces will be fully outfitted with the finishes, furniture, educational resources, and equipment needed to be fully operational.

When construction is completed, the 6th and 7th grades will occupy the second floor of the new academic wing, followed by the 8th grade in the subsequent school year.

The Opportunity

The opportunity before us now is to complete this new wing by finishing the four additional classrooms and administrative offices downstairs and to complete the second floor for the new Middle School, including: four classrooms, a library, an art room, science and computer labs, and a large multi-purpose room. This new space will enable Saratoga Independent School to meet the enrollment demands of its current elementary school and to add a middle school for 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

The Saratoga Independent School is embarking on a three-year Capital Campaign to raise $1,300,000 to enable us to design a purpose-driven interior for the new academic wing.

Choose Where to Give

The Soaring to New Heights Capital Campaign consists of three main focuses for giving:

Building Construction Fund:

Funds given to construction will be used to finish the interior of the new academic wing, including: classrooms on the first and second floors, an elevator, a new library, new computer and science labs, a dedicated art space, as well as a multi-purpose space. New administrative offices will also be completed in 2019.

Programming/Equipment Fund:

Once classrooms and labs are completed, they will be outfitted for learning. Support given to the programming/ equipment fund will assist Saratoga Independent School in purchasing supplies including: smart white boards, furniture, microscopes, student lockers, library books and shelves, technology and more.

The Felice Karlitz Scholarship Fund:

With the goal of attracting a diverse student population for the new grades, as well as a diverse student population overall, a scholarship fund, named in honor of long-time Saratoga Independent School Director of School, Felice Karlitz, has been established. This ongoing fund will provide financial support to both new and existing families and will ensure that we have a robust student body.
